KSHMR enlist Raftaar for new song “Legacy”.
EDM, Trap and bass pioneer KSHMR is prepping the release of his debut Rap project “KARAM”, a follow-up to his 2021’s album “Harmonica Andromeda”. KSHMR decided to put out some new music as he teams up with Indian rap icon Raftaar for a brand new track titled “Legacy”.
“Respect to @raftaarmusic, working w/ him was a dream I had since starting this project. One of the most talented / versatile artists I’ve met, he helped with the production as well,” he wrote.

“So, I went through so many ideas… I had a list of like 50 ideas,” he told Culturehaze about the album title. “In the album, we tell the story through the interludes and this was something that I came up with very early on. I wanted, in each session with the musician… with the rappers, to tell them about the story I had in mind. Then for the song that they record, to put themselves into the perspective of the character at that place in the story. So, yeah. We pick a place in the story, and then we tried to make the song embody it.
“So, when it comes to the title, I wanted it to symbolize the character’s journey. Our hero, our main character, is this kid who comes from the slums of an abusive and impoverished home. However, he has dreams of more… of having more for himself and forms a gang with his friends. Then, by the end, you know, he’s turned into this big gangster but he can’t escape his own fate… he can’t escape his own Karam. Everything that he’s done along the way catches up with him.
“And I liked the resemblance of the word Karam to Karma, of course, you know, and they’re very related for this character… everything that he does, ends up catching up with him by the end of the story. So that was the idea with it… and each song embodies his Karam because it tells a different part of his story and the things that he was doing at that time.”
In early 2023, Raftaar joined forces with Prabh Deep for a joint project titled “PRAA”. The project was 4 song EP, with no other guest appearances. Before that, he released his solo project titled “Hard Drive Vol. 1”. The 7 song project was released with guest appearances from KRSNA, Sikandar Kahlon, Karma, Deep Kalsi Badshah, Faris Shafi and more.
