Kehlani drops a new song “Altar”.
Yesterday, Kehlani made an announcement of her new album “Blue Water Road” which is due to drop this winter. She dropped the official trailer for the project with the announcement. Now Kehlani decided to drop the first single called “Altar.” The track comes along with the official video.
“Blue Water Road” is a follow-up to her last year’s album “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t” which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The project featured guest appearances from Tory Lanez, Jhene Aiko, and more.
Kehlani escapes to the countryside with Diovanna LaBeija, who also choreographed the film, in the video, which opens with a clip from the album trailer.
“Altar” was dedicated to Kehlani’s fallen angels. “This is for all those I’ve lost, all the angels I’ve received, all those who walk with me with their hands cracking my breast apart. “I adore you!” Kehlani, who has lost pals like Chynna Rogers and Lexii Alijai in recent years, tweeted.
In a recent interview, Kehlani explained that Blue Water Road began with sessions intended to produce bonus songs for a deluxe edition of It Was Good, but quickly evolved into something entirely different: “We just made so much cool sh*t, and it was so different from what I would consider to be able to be on the deluxe because it didn’t sound anything like it. I just was like, ‘F**k it, this is a whole new project.’”
