JID and Lil Yachty link up for two Blakkboyz songs.
After announcing it earlier this week, JID teams up with Lil Yachty for two brand new songs titled “Half Doin Dope” and “Van Gogh”. Both the track were teased previously, and it arrives as the duo’s group name Blakkboyz. Van Gogh is prodcued by Cardo, while Half Doin Dope is produced by Groove, and also featured assistance from BabyTron.
“I’m in Detroit damn near more than the Pistons / Last ni–a play on my name came up missin’ / So much demon work, damn near crossed the religion / No way that God would let all of this ni–as stay high, I am livin’,” raps Yachty on Half Doin Dope.
“Pull out the pistol, they whippin’ them nak-d / They chillin’ outside of your whip and they waitin’ / They’ll wait on a witness with nothin’ to say / I’m from Atlanta, the diamonds are Africa,” raps JID on Van Gogh.
The Dreamville artist recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of his third studio album, The Forever Story, and during an IG Live stream, he shared details about his upcoming projects. One of these projects is a highly anticipated joint album with Metro Boomin, who is known for his successful collaborations with various artists. The joint album is yet to be released, but JID mentioned that it will be coming soon. “I think I’ma give ya’ll an album before this Metro sh-t come out — a little like Forever & A Day project,” he said. “I’m just makin goddamn announcements right quick, real quick. I don’t even be on this shit no more because I’m too old for it, but we gonna do this Forever & A Day project, comin out fall time… probably 10-12 songs. Damn it, almost done.”
