Freddie Gibbs drops a new song “Gang Signs”.
After giving us ‘Tell Me‘ Freestyle a couple of months ago, Freddie Gibbs returns with some new material as he teams up with ScHoolboy Q for a new single called “Gang Signs” which was announced a few days ago. They also dropped an animated music video for it.
The two-and-a-half-minute track features the pair delivering catchy bars over lovely arrangements of cosy horns, breezy keys, and a laid-back bassline. Kane and Q offer a layer of gritty lyricism that contrasts the laid-back rhythm as they reflect on their respective street pasts and how they have affected their individual achievements.
“Gang Signs” is also accompanied by a bizarre music video directed by Aaron Hymes and Gabriel Alcala, which depicts Gibbs as a gangster bunny riding about in the real world and collecting his money. Q, on the other hand, is a cheerful turtle with his own agenda, and the scene concludes with the two riding into the sunset.
“I was just trying to pay homage to do or die and bone thugs n harmony when I made this song,” Gibbs said in a statement. “That’s the era I grew up on. It was long overdue for me and Q to do a record.”
