Eminem Releases New Song The King & I Feat. CeeLo Green (Elvis Movie Soundtrack)

Eminem and CeeLo Green’s collab “The King & I” is released.

After a surprise announcement last month, Eminem and CeeLo Green join forces for a brand new collaboration called “The King & I”. The track is off the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Elvis, which is a biopic of legendary Elvis Presley, and directed by Baz Luhrmann. The song features Green on the Chorus, while the Detroit Rapper contributes on 3 verses, with production from his long-time mentor and collaborator Dr. Dre.

“I rolled up like the bottom of a tooth paste tube / Blue suede shoes, one missin’ a shoe lace too / Two chains, you can call me 2 Chainz / Ropes hang like Hussein’s noose / Yeah, they let the fruitcake loose / It goes: one for the trailer park, two for my baby-ma’s / Three for the tater tots, four if you ate a lot / Five if you came to rock, straight up while I’m shittin’ on my comp’ / I’m about to use the John like Grey Poupon,” raps Eminem.

Eminem may be heard making several references to the late singer while returning to race-related themes likely heard on songs like “White America” over a sampling of Elvis’ 50s classic “Jailhouse Rock”.

In a recent interview, CeeLo Green revealed how the song came together with Shady. “Me and Eminem have been friends for years, I’ve longed for an opportunity to work with him,” Green said. “He said ‘hey man can you do this for me? I need it really quickly, I need it tonight.’ So when Eminem says he needs something tonight, you deliver.”

Other singers set to perform on the Elvis soundtrack include Kacey Musgraves, who will offer a rendition of Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love,’ and Doja Cat, who will contribute an original song called ‘Vegas,’ which samples Presley’s 1956 classic ‘Hound Dog.’

The full soundtrack will release along with the movie on June 24th, with music from Denzel Curry, Doja Cat [Vegas], Jazmine Sullivan, Nardo Wick, Swae Lee, Diplo, Tame Impala and more.

Eminem opted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his third album The Eminem Show with an enhanced re-release in addition to appearing on the aforementioned soundtrack. The Eminem Show, along with The Marshall Mathers LP, is one of just seven albums in the United States to sell over a million copies and be certified Diamond.
