Tech N9ne drops “Face off” with Joey Cool, King Iso, Dwayne Johnson, and Krizz Kaliko.
Last night, Tech N9ne released his brand new album called “ASIN9NE” which comes with 17 new tracks. Apart from other features from Lil Wayne, Russ, E-40, and more, the popular Wrestler & Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also makes his rap debut on the song called “Face Off“.
The song also features assistance from Joey Cool, King Iso, and Krizz Kaliko. Krizz sings the chorus, while other raps separate verses, including The Rock. Dwayne Johnson, who did a short verse at the end of the song, also makes an appearance on the official video which is also out now.
“It’s about tribe, it’s about power
We stay hungry, we devour
Put in the work, put in the hours and take what’s ours
Black and Samoan in my veins, my culture bangin’ with Strange,” The Rock raps.
Johnson told Variety that ‘Face Off’ wasn’t the first time he’d been approached to collaborate with a high-profile hip-hop artist, but he’d always declined because of his artistic integrity. When Yates texted him, he opted to break the chain because “we’re aligned, just in terms of our work ethic and ambition.”
“I called [Tech] and I said, ‘Look, brother, I have an idea,’” Johnson said. “‘This might be a great idea or f**king trash.’ He laughed. He goes, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘I want to try and rap this. Let me really try and attack some bars for you.’ He goes, ‘You want to do that?’ I said, ‘I would love to do that because if I just do a Rock promo at the end, I honestly feel like I’m not doing you and the boys the proper service. I really want to come in and help elevate in any way I can.’”
