DJ Premier and 2 Chainz shares a new song “Mortgage Free”.
DJ Premier returns to the music scene as the legendary producer teams up with 2 Chainz for his brand new single called “Mortgage Free”. It follows up their previous collab, “Flirt” off the PRhyme album with Royce Da 5’9″ in 2018.
“Since 2 Chainz joined Royce and I on PRhyme 2’s ‘Flirt,’ I returned the love back by sending him a beat while he was in the Bahamas with Statik Selektah earlier this year recording for various projects.” Premier explained in a statement to Pitchfork. “I sent him the beat and he sent it back to me the same night.”
2 Chainz added, “The record is a reflection of my reality and I feel like an artist’s responsibility is to give the listener some game from time to time. So here’s my free game.”
“The goal in life is to be mortgage free / Control your emotions have integrity / If you wanna use my likeness I need equity / And if you really tryin’ to win you need to bet with me,” raps 2 Chainz.
2 Chainz’s most recent album, the star-studded So Help Me God, was released in 2020. Since then, he’s released a music video for “Grey Area” with his dog Trappy, received an ESPN+ documentary on his basketball career, and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform his single “Can’t Go for That.”
