Currensy & Jermaine Dupri shares a new song “Essence Fest”.
Following the release of “Never Enough” earlier this week, Currensy & Jermaine Dupri continue putting out new music as they now drop another new song called “Essence Fest”. The track is the latest offering off their forthcoming joint album “For Motivational Use Only.”
“The inspiration behind the title, I feel like there was nowhere else we could go after JD explained to me the first time he heard some of the core New Orleans music that shaped our sound, he heard it at a party when he was in town for Essence Fest,” says Currensy about the song. “So it only made sense.”
The New Orleans native previously teased the project during an interview with VIBE. “Just in the title for motivational use only. I think from that you can derive what you’re going to hear,” he said. “You’re going to be pushed to get money, to count that money, invest that money wisely, and then once you flipped it once or two times, then maybe get yourself a little something and then continue and rinse and repeat. That’s what it’s about.” “We got 40 songs saved so we got music, we don’t even have to go in the studio again and we can roll out four volumes without going to the studio again, and we not going to stop,” he added.
The Jet Life rapper recounted the moment when he felt like the full-circle process had come to fruition – it was when Dupri added his well-known “Y’all know what this is” tagline to one of the tracks.
