City Girls taps Usher for new single “Good Love”.
Following the release of Fivio Foreign assisted “Top Notch” a couple of months back, City Girls are back with more new music. The duo of JT and Yung Miami now links up with legendary Usher for a brand new single called “Good Love”. The track samples Lathun’s 1997 “Freak It”, and it arrived with a DAPS-directed official video.
“Bring out that Ace of Spades, DeLeón and lemonade / Sit me center stage and watch me do my thing / Like, don’t stop, get it, get it, ooh, ooh, hit it, hit it / Look back, swirl, twist it, we just some city bi**hes,” raps Miami.
“Good Love” is City Girls’ first official release after collaborating with Fivio Foreign on “Top Notch” in April. It’s unknown whether either song will feature on their impending follow-up to City On Lock, which was released in 2020.
The video, directed by Daps, exudes a vibrant and colorful 90s aesthetic, seamlessly transitioning between the two events as if they were happening simultaneously. The partygoers are seen playing spades, twerking, and doing line dances, fully embracing the summertime spirit.
Meanwhile, the song follows Usher’s appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, when he performed six songs from three of his albums: 1997’s My Way (“You Make Me Wanna…,” “Nice & Slow,” “My Way”), 2001’s 8701 (“U Don’t Have to Call”), and 2004’s Confessions (“Confessions Part II,” “Superstar”).
