Tory Lanez drops the ‘Chinxtape 5’ album feat Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown & others.
After giving us T-Pain-assisted ‘Jerry Sprunger‘ a few days ago, Tory Lanez has released his brand new album called ‘Chinxtape 5‘. The star-studded project contains 18 tracks with guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Chris Brown, Ludacris, Trey Songz, Ashanti, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and more.
Lanez’s journey into the 2000s includes various detours on Chixtape 5. He first collaborates with T-Pain on “Jerry Sprunger,” a remix of “I’m Sprung,” before teaming up with Chris Brown on the seductive version of “Take You Down.” Lanez is known for his high-octane raps, but instead of pausing the act to erupt into a lyrical frenzy, he showcases his vocals alongside some of R&B’s best. Lanez recalls, “I was just trying to make something fantastic.”
On this endeavor, however, he goes above and above, enlisting original musicians to contribute to the new songs. Tory Lanez’s originality is evident not just in his lyrical talent, but also in the incorporation of skits, a storyline, phone conversations, and references to the golden period of R&B, resulting in a nostalgic body of work.
His precise lyricism has served as a building stone for some of his best bodies of works, most notably his famous Chixtape series, in addition to his voice and beats. Lanez’s Chixtape collection, which he started in 2011, demonstrates his love for hip-hop tunes from the 2000s. No beat is safe around the Canadian polymath, from smooth flips of Fat Joe’s “What’s Luv” to Chingy’s “One Call Away” to even Diddy’s “I Need a Girl.”
Within its first week, Chixtape 5 opened at number 2 on the US Billboard 200, earning 83,000 album-equivalent units (with 9,000 copies as pure album sales). Tory Lanez’s fourth top-ten breakthrough in the United States. The record also received 94 million on-demand audio streams for its tracks that week, making it Tory’s biggest first-week stream stats to date.
