Summer Walker shares the new project “Clear 2: Soft Life”.
After announcing it last month and revealing the tracklist earlier this week, Summer Walker has officially released her new EP “Clear 2: Soft Life”. The project is a sequel to her 2019’s four-track EP “Clear”.
The project contains 9 tracks, with guest appearances from Childish Gambino on “New Type”, and a surprise feature from J. Cole on “To Summer, From Cole”.
“For my new listeners I wanna let it be known that CLEAR Projects are my favorite type of music to make, it’s slick the only time I actually have fun making music,” she wrote. “it’s raw it’s real it’s live. This for my day 1 fans, the rest of y’all will get y’all auto tune packed radio joints when the album come out lol.”
The new project follows up her 2021’s album “Still Over It“, which featured Lil Durk, SZA, City Girls’ JT, Cardi B, Ciara, Pharrell and more. Still Over It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, with 166,000 album-equivalent units. It became Walker’s first number-one album and a woman’s first number-one R&B album since Beyoncé’s Lemonade in 2016.
In an interview with Billboard, she talked about being “hella excited for Clear 2. The last one was like four songs. This one — I want it to be a lot longer so I can really get that sound out. That’s my favorite type of sound,” she said at the time. “I make what I got to make for the radio, but I’m very excited for [Clear 2]. Hopefully, my budget will be permitted. [If not], we got to protest.”
