YG drops his new album ‘4Real 4Real’ feat Meek Mill, G-Eazy & others.
After performing on The Ellen Show with Tyga and Jon Z earlier tonight, YG decided to release his fourth studio album called ‘4Real 4Real‘. The project contains 14 tracks with guest appearances from Meek Mill, G-Eazy, Ty Dolla Sign, and more.
The lead track “Go Loko,” which the Compton MC performed Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with guest musicians Tyga and Puerto Rican rapper Jon Z, was released at midnight.
The follow-up to YG’s top-five album Stay Dangerous from 2018, 4Real 4Real, is dedicated to the MC’s late friend Nipsey Hussle. The artwork reads, “In loving memory of Nipsey Hussle.”
While it’s easy to read the tweet as implying that the Compton rapper is gearing up to release his 4REAL 4REAL follow-up as his final album, another view is that YG is merely anticipating the end of a contract and/or the ownership of his catalog’s master recordings. He had not clarified as of the time of this writing.
4Real 4Real opened at number seven on the US Billboard 200 with 37,000 album-equivalent units, including 4,000 pure album sales, in YG’s native nation of the United States. It is YG’s fourth top-ten album in the United States in a row. 4Real 4Real was YG’s third non-consecutive top-ten album in Canada, debuting at number eight on the Canadian Albums Chart.
