Atlantic Records drops “Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga” Soundtrack feat Ty Dolla Sign, Don Toliver, RZA and more.
The new film in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, called “Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga” was released internationally last month, will be in theaters next week in the US. Before the movie, Atlantic Records decided to drop the star-studded “Fast & Furious 9” soundtrack tonight. They already released a couple of tracks like “I Won” by Ty Dolla Sign, Jack Harlow & 24kGoldn, and “Fast Lane” by Don Toliver, Lil Durk & Latto earlier this month.
“F9: The Fast and Furious Saga” is the official soundtrack to the film of the same name. The soundtrack was released on June 17, 2021, and the official film was released on June 25, more than a week later.
Following in the footsteps of past soundtracks, the soundtrack is highly influenced by Hip-Hop culture, with the majority of the songs coming from musicians such as the late Pop Smoke & King Von, Lil Tecca, Don Toliver, and others. On July 31, 2020, a mixtape called “Road to Fast 9” Mixtape was released, over a year before the soundtrack was officially released. The mixtape, however, did not serve as the official soundtrack of the film, but it did serve as a precursor to it.
Lil Tecca’s third song, “Bussin Bussin,” was released on June 18, 2021. On the same day as the second single, four promotional singles were released: “Furiosa,” performed by Anitta, “Bushido,” performed by Good Gas and JP the Wavy, “Mala,” performed by Jarina de Marco, and “Exotic Race,” performed by Murci and featuring Sean Paul and Dixson Waz.
The full soundtrack contains 14 tracks with additional guest appearances from Rico Nasty, Sean Paul, Polo G, RZA, ASAP Rocky, Juicy J, and more. On June 4, 2021, the soundtrack’s lead song, “I Won,” featuring 24kGoldn, Jack Harlow, and Ty Dolla $ign, was released, accompanied by an official music video.
“Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is enjoying a serene life off the grid with Letty and his kid, young Brian, but they know that danger looms just over their peaceful horizon,” says Justin Lin about F9. This time, the threat will push Dom to face his past crimes if he is to save people he cares about. His team band together to foil a world-shattering conspiracy masterminded by the most proficient assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever met: Dom’s abandoned brother, Jakob (John Cena, the upcoming The Suicide Squad).
