Lil Wayne drops ‘Tha Carter V’ Deluxe version feat Post Malone, Gucci Mane & Others.
After an announcement a few days ago, Lil Wayne has released a deluxe version of his album ‘Tha Carter V‘ which dropped two years ago. The new version contains 10 additional tracks with guest appearances from Post Malone, Raekwon, Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz.
It comes after the rapper released a deluxe version of ‘Funeral’ earlier this year, as well as an extended version with eight new songs and guest performances from Doja Cat, Lil Uzi Vert, and Jessie Reyez.
Wayne’s “Tha Carter” series began in 2004, with each album following one to three years after the previous one. The fifth installment of the Tha Carter series, was set to be released in 2014, following the publication of Tha Carter IV in 2011. Tha Carter V was shelved just days before the project’s scheduled December release date. The album was postponed for another four years before being released in 2018, seven years after Tha Carter IV.
Lil Wayne also just released a new song called ‘Big Worm,’ which was accompanied by a video in which he uses face morphing technology to roll back the years. Ray Kay directed the new video, which pays homage to the Young Money rapper as he morphs through the various styles he’s worn since his debut in 1997.
With 480,000 album-equivalent units and 140,000 pure album sales, Tha Carter V debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. With 433 million streams, it was the second-largest streaming week for an album. Lil Wayne became the first artist to launch two tracks in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 after the album’s release. Lil Wayne’s fourth number-one album in the United States. It is his third album to debut at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, with 24,000 units sold. Tha Carter V has sold one million album-equivalent copies in the United States as of November 18, 2018.
