Swizz Beatz drops new album ‘Poison’ feat, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T & others.
Swizz Beatz continues releasing new material as he drops his new album ‘Poison‘ which was announced back in December last year. The project contains 10 tracks with guest appearances from Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, Jadakiss, Nas, and more. The album is executive produced by Swizz and J. Cole.
Lil Wayne (“Pistol On My Side”), Kendrick Lamar (“Something Dirty/Pic Got Us”), 2 Chainz (“Stunt”), Nas (“Echo”), and Young Thug (“25 Soldiers”) all make guest appearances on the project, which spans ten tracks. Swizz worked on the project as an executive producer alongside J. Cole, whose inclusion was unintentional, as Swizz explained in a recent interview with The Fader.
“We were playing each other music, and then we started talking about things other than our projects, books, different things,” he said. “One time, I was playing him songs from the album—before I had all these different sonic elements to the album, before separating them into four boxes. What I played you guys, where it stopped, he was like, ‘That’s the record. The other records you’re playing me, they’re huge, but I don’t think you need it.’”
“I feel like the newest me is ‘Pistol On My Side’ with me and Wayne. It’s like, let the masses do what they specialize in. With what you get more experience in, you let the architects be the crafters of their craft. If you don’t know how to build a house, why the f**k are you playing with construction? But if you know David Adjeye, who’s one of the best architects, bring him in and y’all work together.” said Beatz.
Beatz had 70 tracks originally, but he cut them down to the 10 on the CD. “I took all the hits off my record,” he stated, “meaning anything that seemed too large to live with the rest of the record.” Kanye West, U2’s Bono, and Bruno Mars’ potential collaborations did not make the cut.
