Summer Walker drops debut album ‘Over It’.
The LVRN/Interscope Records’ R&B star Summer Walker from Atlanta has released her debut album called ‘Over It‘. The project contains 18 tracks with guest appearances from Drake, Jhene Aiko, Usher, PARTYNEXTDOOR, 6LACK, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and more.
The compelling project is a touching story of love, heartache, and blows from a sour relationship. Over It sounds like the perfect breakup record just by its name. Its tracklist mostly reflects the singer’s dissatisfaction with a previous situation and desire to mingle. “Drunk Dialing…LODT,” “Off Of You,” and the title track all seem to support this theory. Other tracks like “Stretch You Out,” “Come Thru,” and “Potential” seem to hint at some flirty (and potentially more) behavior on the horizon.
The rising artist has also just released her track “Stretch You Out.” A visual. She’ll be leading her first and last tour next month in London with three gigs. The next locations will include Texas, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, and many others.
On September 30, Walker’s YouTube account aired a “old school” ad to promote the album, which was compared to infomercials for R&B albums from the 1990s. Walker marketed the album by placing several payphones in various cities painted in the album’s motif a few days before its official release.
Over With 134,000 album-equivalent units sold during its opening week, it landed at two on the US Billboard 200. In terms of on-demand streaming media, its premiere week set a record for a female artist’s R&B album streaming week. As the second-most successful R&B album of 2020, it continued to spend over 100 weeks on the Billboard 200.
