Playboi Carti releases debut album ‘Die Lit’.
Playboi Carti‘s debut album is finally here. After announcing earlier today that he will drop the much-awaited album at midnight, the ‘Magnolia’ hitmaker has released his debut album ‘Die Lit‘ on all platforms worldwide. The 18 track album features guest appearances from Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, Bryson Tiller, Chief Keef, Young Thug and more.
Carti fans were understandably excited, but they didn’t get any substantial updates until the end of March when producer Pi’erre Bourne stated the production was already finished. “Somebody from the label wants me to tweet Carti’s albums done,” he said in a now-deleted post. When a fan asked who from the label demanded the announcement, Bourne just said, “Me.”
Die Lit earned 61,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, including 5,000 sales of only the album itself, to debut at number three on the US Billboard 200 list. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded the album gold certification on July 31, 2019, for cumulative sales and streaming that exceeded 500,000 copies in the US. As of January 2021, the album had generated 1.1 million album-equivalent copies and net 1.67 billion on-demand streaming for its tracks.
