Metro Boomin drops new album ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’ feat Gucci Mane, Swae Lee & 21 Savage.
Metro Boomin returns with new material as he drops a new album ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes‘. The project contains 13 tracks with guest appearances from Drake, Gunns, Travis Scott (5 Songs), Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Swae Lee, Offset, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, and more.
After being relatively silent since December’s Double or Nothing with Big Sean, Metro Boomin called it quits in April, knowing it was time for this rite of passage. The rap world, on the other hand, knew Metro was coming back; they simply didn’t know how or when. Is it going to be a new Future project? Would he take a detour and collaborate with a pop singer on an album? One can only hope for a Perfect Timing 2 sequel. Instead, Metro released Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a high-profile guest-filled album that expands on and expands on the dark, hard-hitting production that has cemented Metro’s status as rap’s definitive producer over the previous five years.
Surprisingly, the producer, who is credited with virtually inventing the new wave sound with tracks like Future’s “Mask Off,” Kodak Black’s “Tunnel Vision,” and Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” is MIA. However, one thing we know about hip-hop is that there is no such thing as retirement, and Metro is more likely to be taking a break from the spotlight after receiving mixed reviews for Double or Nothing, a colorless feature-length album with Big Sean, and in order to get his label Boominati Worldwide off the ground. Last month, billboards in New York City and Atlanta began to appear presenting Metro Boomin as a “lost person” – clever advertising for what would be his demise.
The album follows collaborations with Offset and 21 Savage on Without Warning and Big Sean on Double or Nothing, as well as a series of massive hits including Post Malone’s “Congratulations,” Kodak Black’s “Tunnel Vision,” and Future’s “Mask Off.”
Not All Heroes Wear Capes opened at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 99,000 album-equivalent units, becoming Metro Boomin’s first number-one album in the United States. In its second week, the album fell to number eight, collecting an additional 52,000 album-equivalent units. The album debuted at number sixteen on the UK Album Charts.
Following the release of Not All Heroes Wear Capes, seven tracks from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100, including the 21 Savage-assisted track “Don’t Come Out the House,” which peaked at number 38 and became the album’s highest-charting hit.
