Lil Wayne & DJ Drama drops new mixtape “Dedication 6” feat Cory Gunz, Gudda Gudda & others.
As announced earlier this month, Lil Wayne and DJ Drama join forces for their new mixtape “Dedication 6“. The project has 15 tracks with guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Cory Gunz, Gudda Gudda, and more from the Young Money members. Lil Wayne has used the instrumental of the likes of Post Malone, Kodak Black, Kendrick Lamar, Rich The Kid, 6LACK, and more.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, Lil Wayne teased the mixtape multiple times. It was speculated that it might be released before the end of 2017. Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne’s manager, stated that it may be released in November 2017. On Twitter, Lil Wayne stated that the mixtape would be released on Christmas Day.
DJ Drama hosts the 12-year-old mixtape series, which has become a fan favorite. Tunechi fans have been drooling for the next release since the last edition was released in 2013. Dedication 6 is the sixth part of a series that began in September 2013. The Chance the Rapper duet “You Song” was a highlight of that mixtape. Wayne and Chance would go work with 2 Chainz on “No Problem.” This year, they received a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for the song.
The previously released “Bank Account” freestyle is included. Over the instrumentals for YFN Lucci’s “Everyday We Lit” and Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3,” the Young Money boss also captures bodies.
Lil Wayne is well-known for providing his unconventional twists on well-known songs throughout the year on tribute mixtapes. The president of Young Money tackled some of 2017’s greatest songs this year, including Post Malone’s “Rockstar” (with longtime partner Nicki Minaj), Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA,” and Lil Uzi Vert’s mega single “XO Tour Llif3.”
Wayne has had a quiet year in response to music, with his lone solo release in 2017 being the In Tune We Trust EP, a four-song effort released in July. He has always stated that Tha Carter V, the widely awaited sequel, will be out shortly. For the time being, this will suffice.
Part six was initially announced in 2016 and was set to be released in November of this year. Weezy announced the project’s release date earlier this month (Dec. 25). “It’s time!” he tweeted. “Sign up for updates and music before drop date! To My fans, I do this for y’all! #D6 MERRY CHRISTMAS.”
