Jhene Aiko drops her new album ‘Chilombo’ feat Big Sean, Nas & others.
After revealing the tracklist, cover art & release date last month, Jhene Aiko has released her brand new album called ‘Chilombo‘. The project contains 20 tracks with guest appearances from Big Sean, H.E.R., Nas, John Legend, Future, Migue, and more.
This is one of Aiko’s more experimental ventures, featuring meditation and healing session themes mixed together with her ethereal R&B. The singer said to Billboard earlier this week, “Because I wanted Chilombo to be music that you can feel, there are a lot more acoustic instruments. You can hear what the microphone in the room picked up. Everyone was playing real instruments, which have a different effect on you than computerized instruments. Chilombo is the culmination of all of my previous work. This is the infant, but it’s a more advanced version.”
Chilombo opened at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, selling 152,000 album-equivalent units (including 38,000 copies as pure album sales) in its first week. This was Aiko’s sixth top-ten album in the United States, her highest-charting album in the country, and her biggest first-week sales in the area. The album fell to number five on the list in its second week, collecting an additional 56,000 sales.
