DJ Khaled drops new album ‘Father Of Asahd’ feat Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle & others.
DJ Khaled revealed the official cover art for his new album ‘Father Of Asahd‘ yesterday and today he has released the full project on all streaming websites. It’s taken a long time to arrive, but now it’s here. Father of Asahd was released at midnight on Friday, more than a year after Khaled announced it at the start of 2018. (May 17). And, as you might think, it’s jam-packed with A-list talent.
The album which contains last year’s ‘No Brainer‘, has 15 records with guest appearances from Cardi B, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle, 21 Savage, Jay Z, Future, Chance The Rapper, Justin Bieber, SZA, Chris Brown, Jeremih and more.
John Legend and late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was shot in March, are featured on Khaled’s song “Higher.” Additionally, the three may be seen in the song’s music video, which was shot earlier this year. Over the next several days, further videos for other songs will be released.
Khaled recounted how Nipsey gave him “energy and positivity” on the “Higher” video set days before the artist passed away in a post published on Instagram on Wednesday. “After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with the world,” Khaled wrote. “The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a ‘Higher’ level was the essence of Nipsey’s soul. It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission that I, my co-workers, producers and label partners are donating 100% of all our proceeds from ‘Higher’ to Nipsey’s children, Emani and Kross.”
The musician’s 11th studio album, and the follow-up to 2017’s “Grateful”, is finally out, and it’s jam-packed with collaborations. Oh, and it was also produced by Khaled’s son Asahd, just like Grateful. It’s available to watch below.
