Bun B & Statik Selektah drops ‘TrillStatik’ feat Fat Joe, Method Man & others.
Bun B and Statik Selektah join forces to drop a new joint project called ‘TrillStatik‘ which was created on Youtube live on April 17th and viewed by thousands of fans across the world. The album is 10 tracks long with features from Method Man, Smoke DZA, Fat Joe, Talib Kweli, Big K.R.I.T. and more.
Bun B and Statik Selektah recounted the accumulated steps in a YouTube testimonial video before TrillStatik became the 420 exclusive it is today. The video does not cover the entire 11 hours and 40 minutes of the quick recording process. Before you let your inner-schtickler go, keep in mind that Statik Selektah only started keeping track of his stopwatch after the album’s curation was complete. TrillStatik is exactly what the portmanteau suggests. Bun B just had to tweak his Trill OG metre by the tiniest of margins after Statik Selektah laid the foundation of a “boom-bap” template popular in his earlier works. The outcome is a collaborative record featuring both of their likenesses as well as a slew of big-name contributions from both sides of the coin. To demonstrate the universality of 420, the NorthEast and H-Town are equally represented.
