Black Thought drops “Streams of Thought, Vol. 3″ feat Pusha T, Swizz Beatz & others.
Black Thought continues releasing new material as he drops his new album ‘Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane & Abel‘ which is a sequel to his previous ‘Vol. 1‘ and ‘Vol. 2‘ of 2018. The project contains 13 tracks with guest appearances from Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, Killer Mike, ScHoolboy Q and more.
Black Thought loses the fun-loving persona that comes with his nightly appearances on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show for this endeavor. To do so, he enlists the services of Schoolboy Q, Killer Mike, Pusha-T, and others to show why he’s regarded as one of hip-hop’s best lyricists.
“Streams of Thought Vol. 3: Cane & Abel” delves into the issues that prompted him to co-found The Roots nearly 30 years ago and that are still important today. Black Thought cleverly addresses the suffering of Black Americans in his lyrics while remaining plain enough that his message is not lost in translation. “Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane and Abel” was supposed to be released on July 10th, but was pushed back several times owing to the COVID-19 situation. The wait was certainly worth it, as Black Thought delivered one of the most meditative and well-rounded albums of the year. His NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert performance kicked began the roll-out cycle by premiering tunes. After that, Thought released his seven-minute short film “Thought vs Everybody,” which explored America’s long history of institutional racism, political turmoil, and the need for social justice change. Rodney Passé directed the short film, dubbed “The Visual Reckoning.”
