Beyonce drops the new ‘Homecoming’ live album.
Beyonce dropped a new song, “Before I Let Go,” as the closing credits song for her upcoming Netflix documentary/concert film Homecoming, as well as a studio bonus track for her unannounced companion LP Homecoming: The Live Album.
Beyonce’s new documentary ‘Homecoming‘ is available to watch on Netflix and along with it she also releases a new live album called HOMECOMING: THE LIVE ALBUM. The album contains 40 live versions of her songs which she performed in concerts and it also has a new song called ‘Before I Let Go’.
While Beyoncé’s Homecoming concert film was set to premiere on Netflix today, April 17th, the pop queen had provided no indication that the accompanying live album and “Before I Let Go” will be released as well. The live CD, also titled Homecoming, is comprised of 40 tracks and comprises solo singles, a reunion with Destiny’s Child, numerous interludes, and a rendition of the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which features her daughter Blue Ivy. Near the end of the CD, there are two additional tracks: “Before I Let Go” and “I Been On.” The former is a cover of a Frankie Beverly & Maze classic that appears in the documentary’s closing credits, while the latter is an updated version of a song that was first published to SoundCloud in 2013 and later included on the singer’s self-titled album.
With just two days of charting, Homecoming: The Live Album debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number seven with 38,000 album-equivalent units (including 14,000 album sales). It is Beyoncé’s ninth top 10 solo album in the US. The following week, it gained four spots and 57,000 album-equivalent units, reaching number four (including 8,000 album sales). The studio rendition of “Before I Let Go” reached its highest position on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales Chart at number 17 after the album’s release.
