A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie releases new album ‘Hoodie SZN’ feat Young Thug, Juice WRLD & others
A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s new album ‘Hoodie SZN‘ is finally here and it is his third project of the year. The project contains 20 tracks with guest appearances from 6ix9ine, Tyga, Offset, Juice WRLD, Young Thug, PnB Rock, NAV, and more.
Juice WRLD, who was just confirmed to be joining Nicki Minaj on her forthcoming European tour, is also featured on the album. A Boogie contributes his own melodic style to the album, which sees him experiment with samples, R&B instrumentals, and the classic sounds of New York hip-hop. Elements of his childhood in New York can be detected throughout the album.
Hoodie SZN is the follow-up to the artist’s debut album The Bigger Artist, which was released in 2017. The album featured collaborations with Chris Brown, Trey Songz, 21 Savage, and others, and was headlined by the Kodak Black-assisted single “Drowning.”
The release of A Boogie’s new album signals the start of his intended hiatus from the game. The Atlantic Records signee said on his Instagram account in November 2019 that he plans to take a break after the release of Artist 2.0.
“This might be my last project for a while,” A Boogie said. “I wanna take a break from music after Artist 2.0 tour is over. There’s a lot of things I want to do in life and it’s just moving too fast for me to focus on everything at once. But I will never let my fans down. When you need me most, I’ll be there.”
Hoodie SZN opened at number two on the US Billboard 200 in its first week, with 90,000 album-equivalent units (6,000 pure album sales). The album remained at number two on the list in its second week, selling an additional 58,000 copies. The album ascended to number one on the list in its third week, selling 58,000 additional units and 823 copies in traditional album sales.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) earned the album platinum certification for total sales and album-equivalent units exceeding one million in the United States.
