Kodak Black drops a new project “Happy Birthday Kodak”.
Kodak Black, a Florida rapper, has had a modest but effective run with his music recently. Yak has continued to make the required efforts to ensure he keeps his momentum on track after being locked up during the release of his third studio album Bill Israel in November 2020. The album’s follow-up, Haitian Boy Kodak, received a strong endorsement from Drake, who said Kodak was “on another level.” Fans were not only enthusiastic for what was to come next, which turned out to be Kodak’s brand new album Happy Birthday Kodak, but it also threw more light on him and made them more interested in what was to come next.
Kodak Black continues releasing new material as the Florida rapper celebrates his birthday (June 11) with a new short project called “Happy Birthday Kodak“. The project contains 4 tracks with guest appearances from Jacquees, Rylo Rodriguez, Yo Gotti, and Lil Keed. He also dropped a music video for the track called “Feelin Peachy”.
This follows up last month’s album “Haitian Boy Kodak“. For his birthday project, the rapper takes a new approach, freestyling for the majority of it and singing some catchy tunes along the way. It all starts with “Gleerious,” which wonderfully captures the superstar’s Z Day. “Feelin’ Peachy” keeps the momentum going until diverging and finishing with the quasi-posse cut “Amber Rolls.”
The fact that Haitian Boy Kodak sold 22 thousand album-equivalent units, accusing the rap industry of abandoning gangster rap. “I Use To Sell 100K First Week Etc,” he wrote, in a deleted rant. “But along the way the game Turnt g*y !!! Even tho I get to singing to b***hes I signed up fa Gangsta Rap, Not This peekaboo a*s sh*t where good hearted , Real individuals are forced to hide their support for you in public … I can’t Say It’s Blackballing but it’s alotta D**ksuckin & A*s Kissin Goin On.”
On the song, The Rock unleashes a pretty good verse. In an interview with Variety, Johnson remarked of the song’s creation, “When Tech texted me, I knew I would make this work. We’re aligned, just in terms of our work ethic and desire. When Tech and I first met years ago on the set of ‘Ballers,’ we were talking about this idea about being the hardest worker in the room. He said something that I really appreciated: basically, ‘There could never be enough food in this room or on this set that could make me full because I always want to be hungry.’ I just love that.”
Kodak Black’s sentence for his 2020 conviction was mitigated by President Donald Trump. In Florence, South Carolina, Kodak Black was still facing criminal sexual assault accusations, which prosecutors planned to prosecute “aggressively.” On April 28, 2021, Kodak accepted a plea agreement in the alleged se*ual assault case, pleading guilty to a lesser charge of first degree assault and battery and receiving an 18-month probation term.
