Ab-Soul shares new album “Soul Burger”.
Ab-Soul continues putting out new material as he finally drops his brand new album titled “Soul Burger”. The album is a a follow-up to his 2022’s effort “Herbert“.
The new album comes with a pack of 15 tracks, with guest appearances from JasonMartin and Thirsty P on “All That”, Vince Staples and Kamm Carson on “California Dream”, Doechii on “I, Myself & Me”, Ty Dolla $ign on “Go Pro”, JID on “Crazier“, Lupe Fiasco, Doeburger and Punch on “Peace” and more.
The new album is a tribute to his later friend Doe Burger, who passed away in 2021. “I’m glad your a-s was in a cast and not in a casket / You could’ve died but you survived now get your cash bi–h,” Doe Burger raps to Soul in the trailer.
“The idea came to fruition after [Doe Burger]’s transition and it’s just something that was very important for me to do ‘cause I don’t even know how I’m really still doing this without him,” he said in interview with DJ Hed. “That’s how tight-knit we were.” “He wasn’t no hype man or hangaround, he was really my big homie. He was really the star of it. He put the glow on it. I just been tryna channel him. I got my hair braided — that was against my religion — I got jewelry on.”
“I just been trying to channel him and my best way of doing that is through the music. Hence the title — it’s the fusion of me and him. We was literally Huey and Riley from The Boondocks,” he continued. “To where this album is not me – it’s Soul Burger. That’s not me. It’s like a new artist. It’s not a Ab-Soul project, it’s a Soul Burger project, so I recommend everybody listen to it in terms of that.”
