See Me On Top Vol. 4 sees K.R.I.T. abandoning the “free album” approach of earlier mixtapes such as Return of 4Eva in favour of the standard mixtape fare of his pre-Def Jam See Me On Top series. The song “Mt. Olympus,” in which he confronts the quasi-controversy of Kendrick Lamar naming him competition on the now-infamous “Control” verse, is a definite standout. K.R.I.T’s reaction to the Hip Hop world’s appetite for confrontation is measured, as he addresses both listeners and the volatile nature of the game, saying, “Thought they wanted trap, thought they wanted bass / Thought they wanted molly, thought they wanted drank…”
