Teenage rapper Big Joe Green meets Eminem.
“Keep on going, you got it“. After hearing Canterbury’s teenage wheelchair rapper Joe Ward perform one of his unique raps, renowned rap sensation Eminem said this. Joe Ward, 19, is still buzzing after returning from a “life-changing” journey to the United States to see his idol.
A young teenage rapper’s dream came true when he got to meet his idol Eminem in his studio in Detroit. Joe Ward aka Big Joe Green’s who has muscular dystrophy spent 13 days in the US and his trip was organized by Make a Wish New Zealand in conjunction with Make a Wish America. Big Joe Green reveals he couldn’t sleep the night before he met Eminem because he was so excited.
“Sup bro,” Ward stated as his first words to Eminem. Eminem then approached him and attempted to shake his hand, but owing to his disability, Ward was unable to raise his hand high enough to shake Eminem’s, so the rapper instead gave him knuckles, according to him.
He remarked, “I wish I could have shook his hand instead.” Eminem spoke to the audience about his personal life and the obstacles he has overcome to get to where he is now.

In February 2023, the Detroit rapper again fulfilled some fans’ wishes as he met some of them at his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in Detroit. “Literally got to meet my role model!! Thank you make a wish so much and thanks Eminem, this was so dope,” wrote a fan. “And another one with: Bro, how did I get here?”
