Royce Da 5'9 Says, In '99, Earl Sweatshirt's head would have been taken off for dissing Eminem

Royce Da 5’9″ says Earl Sweatshirt’s head would have been taken off for dissing Eminem in 1999.

Royce da 5’9″ made news a few weeks ago when he suggested Drake might not be a good lyricist because of the ghostwriting claims leveled against him. In the interview with Vlad TV, Royce Da 5’9″ recognised the transition, which he doesn’t necessarily think is a negative thing, and discussed how the new climate has helped certain younger rappers who have lately dissed Eminem. Now, in a separate segment of the same interview, Royce Da 5’9″ discusses how, if this were 1999, Earl Sweatshirt would have been fired for dissing Eminem as he has.

In a recent sit down with Vlad tv, Royce Da 5’9″ talks about troy ave, 50 cent, Meek Mill, Kanye West & Wiz Khalifa’s beef, and much more. When asked about how is beef nowadays is different from back in old days, Royce says, “It was actually repercussions to your words back then. You had to stand by what you said back then. If you said you were gonna punch someone in the face when you seen ’em, you had to punch ’em in the face when you seen ’em. Now it’s like taboo to be hands on and actually put your hand on somebody. As an OG, you’ve gotta learn how to ignore things. You have to. You gotta laugh sh*t off.“.

Royce continues and took Earl Sweatshirt as an example of the younger generation talking sh*t, “Like Earl Sweatshirt talking crazy about Eminem? You gotta laugh that off now. In ’99, his head? We woulda took his head. We woulda took his head a long time ago.” Royce also said that “Now it’s just a different time and everybody’s more mature. We Just gotta understand that the kids we influence, a lot of time don’t really know what they’re doing, they don’t know what they’re saying. They just kinda gettin’ in front of the mic, saying sh*t. Then they get off the mic and just want to have a good time.

Later, the interviewer asked him if he’s talking about Earl Sweatshirt or Tyler, the Creator, he responds, “Both.” Check out the full interview below.
