Kendrick Lamar have to go through Eminem's Studio Test

Ed Sheeran Says Eminem made sure Kendrick Lamar Didn’t Use Ghostwriter.

Eminem was so sure that Kendrick Lamar was using a ghostwriter that he made the rapper compose his verse for “Love Game,” a tune off The Marshall Mathers LP 2, alone in the studio. That’s according to Ed Sheeran, who got the story from MMLPII executive producer Rick Rubin and told it on The Zach Sang Show. Listen to the story above, which was spotted by HotNewHipHop, at the 8-minute mark.

The Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran who just did his comeback in 2017 with his 2 new tracks features in a new Interview on Zach Sang Show where he shares an interesting story.

Ed Sheeran released two new songs on Thursday. The singles, dubbed “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You,” were released alongside the announcement of Sheeran’s new album, which is expected to be released this year. Sheeran’s most recent album, x, was released in 2014. In 2011, he released his debut album +. Eminem’s most recent album was The Marshall Mathers LP 2 in 2013, whereas Kendrick’s most recent release was untitled unmastered in 2016.

The Story is about how Eminem made sure Kendrick Didn’t Use ghostwriters. The Story which he heard from his producer Rick Rubin. The legendary Rubin worked with both Em and Ed Sheeran.

The Story relates to the first time Kendrick Lamar and Eminem work together for “Love Game” on Em’s MMLP2. So, while back “Eminem Heard that Kendrick Lamar was the best rapper and he invited him to the studio for featuring on a track“. and Em was Suspicious about Kendrick using a ghostwriter.

He arrived and Kendrick came with all his mates and Eminem said, ‘I just want you in the studio, just you on your own and then my engineer is gonna come in and then record you doing it, but your mates aren’t allowed in.’ And then, Kendrick did it and wrote a sick verse. And then everyone came in to listen to it and Eminem said that he did it to test Kendrick because he thought he had a ghostwriter. And, he then realized that he didn’t, and then claimed he was the best, which is kinda cool I think.

Kendrick, to his credit, had a good idea of what was going on. During a radio interview in 2014, he detailed the song’s recording process. “He brought me out to Detroit, I had a show, and he brought me to the studio to do a hook… I go in, do the hook, and he’s like ‘I like the hook.’ Then I’m like, ‘Alright, cool, I’m finna dip,’ then he says ‘Think you could do a verse?’… The thing with Em which was crazy to me is he kicks everybody out of the studio… I took it as him kicking everybody out to see if it’s really you writing those raps that you’re writing.

Sheeran revealed on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show that the lyrics to ‘Shape Of You,’ which contain a reference to Van Morrison, meant that he and Blanco never really delivered the song to Rihanna.

He recalled: “I started writing lyrics like ‘putting Van the Man on the juke box’ and thought ‘she’s not really going to sing that’. We decided halfway through that this would work for me.”

The Story begins at the mark 7:50 of the video below.

Last year, Kendrick did a QnA session with Rick Rubin which you can watch here.
