Eminem Takes Control of His Own Twitter Account

Eminem takes control of his Twitter ahead of Coachella.

Eminem has 22.6 million Twitter followers but only 751 tweets, most of which are simply advertisements for his music and merchandise. Slim Shady wants to make it obvious on Tuesday night (April 10) that he is now in charge of his own profile. Em is seen sitting on a couch with a phone in his hand in a short clip he published on Instagram.

Coachella festival 2018 will kick off this week in California and the Detroit rapper Eminem will headline the event for the first time in his career. Among all the artists who will perform at the festival, Eminem is the only one whose performance will not telecast live on TV or Youtube.

UPDATE: It looks like Eminem really took control over his Twitter.

Busy rehearsing for Coachella

His Twitter account has over 22 million followers and has been active since 2009, although the Detroit native isn’t well-known for his use of social media. In truth, the majority of his internet activity consists of tour dates or sophisticated marketing tactics, such as a phony leaked video of an affair used to promote his “River” video.

Yesterday Eminem posted a funny video of him rehearsing for the Festival and today he took to Twitter and revealed that he is taking control of his Twitter profile. He wrote, ‘Everyone thinks I don’t write my own tweets but I wrote this one‘.

Em’s fans, understandably, were ecstatic. In less than 24 hours, his Instagram video has approximately 2 million views, and his tweet has been liked over 200,000 times. Will we see more clips like Em “rehearsing” for Coachella during the takeover?

When it comes to technology, Eminem is famously behind the times. Complex learned in 2009 that he had no idea internet porn existed. The MC also admitted to not knowing how to use a computer. “I don’t even know how to turn a computer on and it’s probably better that way,” he said in his 2009 cover story. “I look at stuff, but as far as actually sitting there and knowing how to work it and knowing what sites to go on.”

He also shared a video of him using Twitter on his Instagram. Watch it below.
