Eminem is currently on tour in Australia, with stops in New Zealand thrown in for good measure. During a record-breaking show at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium, Em took a moment to issue a public service announcement kind of things about his preferred concert attire. According to him, there’s a method to his madness: his penchant for lining his shirts with iconic rap album covers serves an educational purpose. As we all know, Eminem loves wearing t-shirts with pictures of legendary Hip-Hop album cover on his tours, and now at his recent concert at Wellington’s Westpac stadium a few days, he finally reveals why he does that.

During his performance, Eminem who was wearing Masta Ace’s ‘Slaughterhouse’ album t-shirt, Interacts with the crowd and says, “You know, this was called the Rapture tour. But originally, it was going to be called the ‘Rap Shirt’ tour. I’ma tell you why. There’s a reason I do this, every single night on stage man. Hopefully, some of you all might go but their albums. Might go look em’ up. Maybe you don’t know who Masta Ace was, or Kool G Rap. I feel like you need to know because what they did for hip-hop is so f*cking incredible because they made it go to that next level. These are the rappers that inspired me, man. On some real shit.” Eminem is paying respects to his inspirations.

Masta Ace has long been one of Em’s influences, and he was featured on his 2000 track “Hellbound,” in which you can sense his impact on a young Shady.

Eminem’s Rapture tour has been nothing short of spectacular so far, and his performance in Wellington was no exception. More than 46,000 people packed Westpac Stadium, shattering the venue’s previous attendance records, to witness the rapper’s live event, which was his only performance in New Zealand and his first visit to the city.
