Initially reported to be released during the summer of 2011, the release date of Street King Immortal has since been revised on several occasions, largely due to disagreements between 50 Cent and Interscope over the release and promotion of the album, which led to the album’s brief cancellation. Later Interscope announced that the album would be in stores on November 13, 2012.[2] 50 Cent did an interview, while he was in France
promoting the headphones of his own company SMS Audio, confirming the album was pushed back to February 26, 2013. After a year of informational silence about the album, a new release date was officially announced as
September 16, 2014.

50 Cent confirmed in an interview with Digital Spy that the first single from Street King Immortal would be “New Day” featuring Alicia Keys as well as Dr. Dre who also produced it. Mixed by Eminem, it was released on July 27, 2012, on Hot 97 with DJ Camilo and then, later on, Thisis50 and was made available for purchase at iTunes on July 30, 2012. The song first charted on the week of August 6, 2012, debuting at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the video was set to be shot in the first week of September. However, it was cancelled due to the death of his manager, Chris Lighty. In a video uploaded via his YouTube account, 50 Cent also talked about the origins of the song, first meant to be This Life Won’t Last Forever which featured Ester Dean on the hook.” New Day” samples an eight-second-long spoken-word introduction, indicative of and related to the content of the subsequent music. An excerpt is taken from the highly-acclaimed 1993 gangster film, A Bronx Tale. The speaker’s voice is that of Robert De Niro, who in the film, plays the role of Lorenzo Anello. After scrapping the song, 50 Cent revealed that it was released first due to Alicia Keys’ solo version being leaked.

The album’s second official single, “My Life”, features fellow rapper Eminem and American singer Adam Levine and production by Symbolyc One.50 Cent announced it in an interview with the radio station Channel 4 FM, with host Chris Birks. He said that he wants to top his most successful single to the date, In da Club, before retiring. 50 Cent also talked about his performance at the Atelier festival in Dubai, in which he will be performing songs from his recent projects, such as The Big 10, The Lost Tape and 5 (Murder by Numbers). On October 17, 2012, the name of it was revealed during an interview while 50 Cent was in France. He also revealed that the beat of it was recording material from Dr. Dre’s long-awaited album Detox. Before releasing “My Life”, 50 Cent shot a video for it with Eminem and American music video director Rich Lee in Corktown Historic District, Detroit. 50 Cent affiliated boxer Andre Dirrell made a cameo appearance in it. The single was released on November 26, 2012, and performed on the same day on The Voice. The song has since entered the top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100. On December 20, 2012, 50 Cent released a teaser video previewing another song of his album, featuring Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy and produced by Soul Professa. The song called “Major Distribution”, was released later that day with DJ Enuff on American radio station Hot 97. The music video was shot featuring cameo appearances by 50 Cent and G-Unit affiliates along with, [Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, Young Jeezy, members of CTE World and directed by Eif Rivera.

After revealing a feature from Kendrick Lamar on his fifth album, 50 Cent released a preview video of the song called “We Up” via his YouTube channel. The song originally also featured G-Unit rapper Kidd Kidd and this version was released on February 15, 2013. However, it was later revealed that he was removed from the final version, leaving only 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar on it. This version song was released as the third official single on March 25, 2013. The official music video was shot in Los Angeles and was also released on March 25, 2013. Two months after its release, the song was added to Rhythmic contemporary radio, on May 28, 2013.
On June 4, 2014, 50 Cent confirmed in an interview that all previous singles released on Interscope that were intended for the album, including “My Life,” “New Day” and “We Up,” were scrapped, but that the album will still feature Eminem.

Due to an ongoing issue with his company, 50 Cent claims to have shelved his next album and has stated that he “will not put out another album.” “They dropped the ball with me one too many time,” the rapper tweeted. “I apologise to all my fans.”

Although Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine of Interscope tried to calm things down afterwards, 50 Cent’s rage flared out again this week. “Man I’m not releasing an album,” he tweeted. “I can’t believe Interscope is this f**ked up right now … I will work with other artists on their projects but I will not put out another album.” It didn’t help that one of 50 Cent’s new songs, I’m On It, appeared on filesharing sites on Wednesday. “I don’t know how I can record 41 songs for my album and the one song I give Interscope leaks,” he said. “I hate when I can’t present my music the way I feel it should be.”
