Watch Akon Calls Eminem as The Greatest Rapper That Ever Lived

Akon & Demarco on Eminem or Drake. Quotes Eminem is the greatest.

Akon and Demarco recently made a visit to Tim Westwood to talk about who’s the greatest rapper between Eminem or Drake. Both of them took Eminem’s side and calls him the greatest ever but also said that this generation prefers the likes of Drake, Future, and Migos.

“Nobody respects Em better than me. You all know that,” says Akon. “In my mind, he’s the greatest rapper that ever lived. Now when you take what I think and apply that to this generation they not gonna say its Eminem. They will say its Future, Migos. When Eminem came out he was fire-cracking everybody’s a*s. I don’t know no rapper, black, white, Hispanic that could f**k with Em when he came out.”

Akon recently got down for an exclusive interview with VLAD tv, where he discussed his music, plans, and how he cooperated with Eminem. Akon also discusses why he didn’t sign Drake because his demo tapes sound more like Eminem’s.

“Out of all the artists today, to me, [Drake] is worth every single f**king penny,” Akon continued. “Each and every dime. Bro, that motherf**ker is a genius. What he’s done is revolutionary.” Akon further revealed that at the time, no one had signed Drake and that the lowest offer was $1 million.

No one really knows why Akon dropped out of the music industry, but there was a period when he ruled the charts. “Smack That” with Eminem was one of the most popular songs of the 2000s all over the world.

In a 2007 interview with a random TV show, Akon stated that Eminem is the best rapper of all time: “I’ll probably have to say Eminem. I would definitely say Eminem… He came from a whole another culture, literally. Mastered it, outsold everybody and then he did every kind of record imaginable. He did comedy record, a party record, sexy record, drama record, theatrical record. He could take any kind of topic and make a song out of it. I have not seen any artist do that yet.”

Akon discussed his days working with Eminem on the production of “Smack That.” No matter what stage the recording is at, Eminem reportedly arrives at the studio at 9 AM, leaves for an hour-long lunch break in the middle, and returns around 5 PM, according to Akon.

Akon says “He comes in at 9 A.M every day to the studio, takes his lunch break at 1 A.M, and is out of there by 5 PM. It’s like a schedule. I did not expect that from him. The first day I come, I come around 6 PM. Like we going to do an evening session. I get to the studio, they said ‘Em just left!’ He said ‘I am out of here!’ I said ‘I just got to the studio, you coming back here?’ He said, ‘yeah, I’ll be back there at 9 AM.”
